Does Nate love Cassie or Maddy?

Understanding The Character of Nate Jacobs And Cassie Howards – Nate Jacobs is perhaps the most hated character throughout the two seasons, and the reasons are obvious. He embodies the toxicity in men that women are vehemently refusing to accept in this day and age.

Even though there is a past involved with this deeply flawed attitude, it can never be an excuse. In the first season of “Euphoria,” Rue described that the kinds of women Nate was attracted to were those who wore tennis skirts, had no body hair, wore ballet shoes or sandals, and smelled of fresh fruit.

He hated women who wore sneakers and looked, sat, or talked like boys. Although Maddy fitted his idea of perfection, their love was destructive. Jealousy was what turned them on, and they always found their way back to each other, even after multiple breakups.

  • Nate was eleven when he saw his father’s adult video collection.
  • Nate watched his father engage in sexual acts at a young age, and that affected his mental health to a great extent.
  • His homophobia can also be traced to this past.
  • Maybe it was after watching his father with young men and transwomen that he developed a hate for queer people.

At the age of twelve, Nate started working out and following a strict diet to fulfill his father’s dream of becoming a star quarterback. But his disgust for his father continued. Nate also misbehaved with Jules in “Euphoria” Season 1, simply because she was a transwoman.

He later found a video recording of his father and Jules. He then created an online persona, Tyler, and started flirting with her. He was threatened by the fact that Jules knew his father’s secret and might reveal it to others. He wanted to protect his family from the embarrassment, but more than anything, he could not accept his father’s truth.

When Nate met Jules as Tyler, he tried to treat her the way his father did in the video, but she stopped him. He blackmailed her with her nudes. He threatened her to keep his father’s secret hidden. He even used her as a witness to blame the real Tyler for choking Maddy. Who Is Alexa Demie Dating Credits: HBO Max In “Euphoria” Season 2, Nate fell in love with Cassie, or at least that is what we can conclude. Cassie was the perfect woman, according to him, one who was submissive, dressed up the way he liked, and could be the perfect wife that he always desired.

Unlike Maddy, who was extremely confident and dominant, Cassie could be molded the way Nate desired. By the end of the season, the two had entered into a relationship. Cassie was glad to be owned by Nate. After all, she was even ready to dress up as Maddy to catch his eyes. But Nate continued to experience those nightmares in which he used to be his father’s victim.

His relationship with Cassie did not help him overcome his fear. Nate used to think about Maddie and Jules when he made love to Cassie. When Lexi insulted him in her play, he was quick to break up with Cassie. Even though Nate got his father arrested for video recording his sexual experiences, he simply wanted his father to suffer.

  1. He wanted him to pay for his childhood trauma and for the person he had become.
  2. He could not accept that his father was living his life on his terms when he was failing to do so.
  3. Nate cannot accept himself; he refuses to be the man he has always hated.
  4. Cassie wanted to embody every virtue that one could associate with a woman (before feminism took the world by storm).

The perfect woman, according to her, was perhaps the one who could be loved and adored by the people around her. Someone sweet, innocent, caring, and did not have many opinions about life. She was aware of her beauty and enjoyed the attention that men around her gave her.

  • She did not have any aspirations in life, she simply wanted to be a good wife, a caring mother who would stay at home and look after her family.
  • Cassie did not want to be like her mother, Suze.
  • She had always seen her parents argue, her mother was mostly drunk, and her father was absent.
  • In Lexi’s play, we also get to witness how even when her father was not in his right state of mind, Cassie wanted to trust him and support him.

The image of a perfect family was what she dreamt of. She last saw her father, a week before her fifteenth birthday. He stole spoons and plates and left the house. Her father was a drug addict, and they were unaware of his whereabouts. Her father’s abandonment deeply affected her mental health. Who Is Alexa Demie Dating Credits: HBO Max When Cassie found Nate, she could finally picture her perfect family coming to life. He was the man who could take care of her and provide for her while she would play the role of a good wife. Cassie believed in fairytales, and every time her bubble was poked, she would turn furious.

She knew the kind of person Nate was, but she simply wanted to be loved by him no matter what. She gave up on her friendship and her family to be with him. While they were somehow perfect for each other, Nate was dreaming about other women. Cassie had warned Nate that she could be dangerous if she wanted to, and after their break up at the end of “Euphoria” Season 2, we can expect some foul play from Cassie’s end.

In the “Euphoria” season finale, Maddy confronts her former friend Cassie, who slept with her ex.Many fans found the drama relatable and called it “triggering” of their own betrayal trauma.Though broken friendships can be mended, experts say it’s better to cut ties with toxic friends.

Spoiler alert! The following post discusses important plot points and the ending of “Euphoria.” The latest season of the controversial HBO series “Euphoria” explored the demise of a fan-favorite friendship between high schoolers, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Maddy (Alexa Demie), after Cassie secretly dates her best friend’s ex-boyfriend, Nate (Jacob Elordi),

All season long, viewers anticipated Maddy would enact her revenge. But instead, Sunday’s season finale showcased an even more heartbreaking confrontation – anger dissipated into disappointment, as the sister-like best friends became strangers to each other. “I related to Maddy’s heartbreak a lot,” says 20-year-old “Euphoria” fan Taylor Bowlin,

In high school, her boyfriend cheated with her best friend, which triggered years of loneliness and trust issues. “It took years to heal. I just wanted my best friend to remain my best friend but I was in denial. I couldn’t stand to admit the truth of my childhood best friend actually doing this to me.” The reality is, the feelings associated with breakups and heartbreaks don’t only display with romantic partners.

In many instances, it can be just as painful to break up with a best friend, according to Terri Orbuch, author of “Secrets to Surviving Your Children’s Love Relationships.” “Just like romantic relationships, we also pour our hearts out to our friends, and share personal often confidential information with them,” Orbuch explains.

“When the friendship doesn’t work out, we feel rejected We feel hurt when we value others and they don’t attach the same value to us. And it is typically our close friends and romantic partners who cause us hurt feelings the most.” ‘Euphoria’: Nudity, controversies make viewers uncomfortable – but not enough to turn it off

What did Nate do to Maddy?

Taking A Closer Look At Nate And Maddy In HBO’s ‘Euphoria’ Warning: Euphoria contains violence, extreme sexual content, drug abuse and other material that may not be suitable for everyone, so please be cautious before reading on. In Euphoria everything seems complex.

  • We’re following the lives of several different characters that are all going through their own trauma.
  • None of the characters are perfect–they’re high school students.
  • Who had the perfect life in high school? None of us, that’s for sure.
  • We’re sure people may remember a certain couple at school, who was referred to as the “power couple.” That would probably be the best way to phrase it.

In Euphoria, Nate and Maddy have the potential to be that popular, powerful couple–if only their relationship weren’t so complex. Nate has his own issues, he seems confused, frustrated with his own existence. He’s frustrated with his father, his sexuality, his relationship, he’s frustrated with Maddy. Who Is Alexa Demie Dating Courtesy of HBO Does Maddy deserve his frustration? Not the way he takes it out on her, but she does seem to do things to intentionally upset him. In one of the first scenes when we see Nate’s temper come out, it’s due to Maddy. He believes her to be pure and much more innocent than we know she is.

She has sex with another guy in a pool at Nate’s party. Of course, this is upsetting to Nate. They may have broken up, but it’s almost as if he views her as property. Maddy later claims she was blacked out, she doesn’t remember doing this. In all reality, she does. Maddy is aware of everything that transpired that night, yet she doesn’t accept responsibility for her role in it.

After claiming she was blacked out, Nate insists that it should be considered rape. He manages to find the “culprit” and stalks outside his apartment. Eventually, after breaking into his apartment, Nate beats the guy, almost in a way that should be considered torture. Who Is Alexa Demie Dating Courtesy of HBO In Nate’s eyes, he’s done what he had to do. He took care of Maddy. He kept the woman that he loves safe. Violence seemed to be the only way to do it. This has been passed through generations in his family. He’s overwhelmed with the idea that everything he has to do needs to be perfect.

Everything in Nate’s life must be perfect, He saw Maddy as perfect, he saw her as pure and innocent. He believed he was her first everything. This, of course, is another lie told by Maddy. Later in the season, he sees that she’s promiscuous, she shows up dressed inappropriately. He tells her she looks like a “slut”.

Maddy has a mind of her own and doesn’t take kindly to this and creates a scene. Later, Nate attacks her. He strangles her–not to death–we all know Maddy is still among the living, but enough to leave bruises around her neck. Her family wants to press charges against Nate, and they’re told to stay away from one another. Who Is Alexa Demie Dating Courtesy of HBO Of course, they can’t follow these rules. They meet up. They’re together, and their love is a twisted type. Nate wants complete control of Maddy, her love, her innocence, he wants everything he believes about her to be true. Maddy allows him to believe everything is true, she allows this to continue. It’s said in Euphoria that Nate and Maddy do love each other, in their own way. Who Is Alexa Demie Dating Courtesy of HBO Time for a newsflash, This is not love. They’re both abusive in their own ways, but it is not love. Nate is physically abusive. Mady’s lies, blackmail, and manipulation are all emotional abuse. This. Is. Not. Love. Again, we would say that Euphoria is a well put together show, but it’s dark and twisted, it shows these graphic scenes from a teenager’s point of view.

As a teenager, it could be seen as a dark, twisted love. It’s not love at all, and we want this to be crystal clear. Nate is infatuated, Maddy is infatuated. They have powerful lust, but everything they do to one another, that’s not love. Euphoria may try to show that when people believe they’re in love, they do crazy things, but what they should be portraying is that love does not and should not involve abuse.

Aside from wondering if the topically masculine character even has a heart, “” fans are getting curious about whether Nate could actually be in love with one of his classmates on the HBO series. : Who Does Nate Really Love: Maddy, Cassie, or None of the Above?

Who has Cassie slept with?

Euphoria: The Cassie Complex Viewers of the HBO show, Euphoria, have been chomping at the bit for new content as the series finale gears up to premier on Sunday, February 27. The season itself has been riddled with drama, from cheating and sex tapes, to drug abuse and human trafficking; a lot, we know.

With the popularity of Euphoria comes an extremely large fanbase – and with that fanbase, the power to critique and analyze the show and its characters on a mass scale. One character who has received a lot of heat from fans of the show this season has been Cassie Howard. Though she was a favorite for many during the show’s initial run in 2019, things took a turn for the worst during Season Two.

For those of you who haven’t been clued in, Cassie sleeps with the abusive ex-boyfriend (Nate Jacobs) of her best friend, Maddy Perez. The two continue this affair in secret, having begun it shortly after Maddie and Nate broke up. Cassie wakes up as early as 4:00 AM to get ready for school and impress Nate.

  • She imitates Maddy’s fashion looks.
  • She consistently vies for his attention and puts her relationship with him before her relationship with her best friend.
  • To someone scraping the surface, Cassie’s character seems desperate and thoughtless.
  • We pin her for being selfish and having no respect for her friend.

Even as the season comes to a close, many viewers express that they’re still waiting for Maddy to “beat Cassie up.” All these critiques are fair, of course – many women resonate with the feeling of having a manipulative or abusive ex-boyfriend. The idea of their closest friend sleeping with that man is reason enough to fuel their hatred for Cassie.

However, few people take into consideration the incidents occurring over the course of Cassie’s life that may have driven her to such an act. I’m not a Cassie apologist. There is never truly an excuse for sleeping with your best friend’s ex-boyfriend. That being said, when we look back at what we know about Cassie, we may be able to discern why this happened.

We’ve learned a lot about Cassie Howard over the course of the show. In fact, her story is one that – for many women – is painfully relatable. Her childhood primed her for an addiction to male validation and ‘love’ – whether that ‘love’ was truly adoration or just mere sexual attraction.

At a young age, she was already being consistently sexualized by older men for her body and abandoned by an absentee father. Her nudes are circulated around her high school, her boyfriend tells her he wants her to get an abortion, and who could forget the cruel speech given to her after she refuses to have sex with someone at a party: “I’m going to be honest with you because no one else will.

Any guy who says he’s interested in you beyond just f—ing you is full of sh–.” Why is it so difficult for viewers of Euphoria to take these items into account when wondering ‘how could she?’ Was it right to further victimize Maddy in the way Cassie did? Absolutely not.

  1. But if not Maddy, it would’ve been someone else.
  2. Some theorists and critics have suggested that, in a way, Cassie is a foil for Rue.
  3. Both of them are older sisters who experienced life without a father and from a young age were made ready for addictions.
  4. Rue to drugs and Cassie to validation.
  5. Both of them are extremely destructive of their friends’ and families’ lives because of it – but because Rue’s is something tangible, and something deadly, we struggle less to grant her sympathy for her actions.
See also:  When Will Alexa Bliss Be Back?

The other difference? Rue gets an intervention. Cassie does not. In the grand scheme of things, sleeping with your friend’s ex-boyfriend isn’t the worst thing to happen on the show. And yet, Cassie is the most hated character (other than Nate). It’s almost as if Euphoria ‘s audiences forget just how manipulative Nate Jacobs can be.

Assuming that he could get Maddy to frame an innocent man for a crime he didn’t commit, why is it so out of left field to think he could manipulate Cassie into treating him with unwavering loyalty. Cassie tells him in Episode seven of Season two that he has complete control over her. What she wears, what she eats, who she talks to.

This is clearly some kind of illness, some kind of craving to hold on to the one man who seems to care about her. And yet, we brush it off as ‘seriously, Cassie?’ When I think of Cassie, I’m drawn back to Frued’s Madonna-Whore complex. Though the initial theory presents itself as ‘men’s inability to maintain arousal in a committed, loving relationship,’ the roots stem a bit deeper.

The entire ideology surrounding the Madonna-Whore complex is based on the notion that we, as a collective, can observe women as one of two classes: a Madonna – the picture of innocence, sweetness, and purity – or a whore. A woman like Cassie will be viewed by the men in her life as a Madonna at first – she’s an innocent child, yet she’s a nurturing mother.

She’s pure, and beautiful, and simple. The moment she acts out in a way that doesn’t fit this mold, however, we must categorize her as a whore. The point I’m making here is not that we should revere Cassie as a Madonna – none of the characters in this show ought to be observed that way.

However, why is there no happy medium? No in-between? Why must Cassie be labeled as one over the other? This hatred for her as a character has grown so intensely that characters are genuinely either rooting for her to be with Nate, spitefully saying ‘they deserve each other,’ – or rooting for Maddy and Nate to get back together to ‘rub it in Cassie’s face.’ Let’s try to remember here that Nate is abusive.

In Episode six of Season two, he quite literally threatens Maddy at gunpoint. Why would any viewer in their right mind root for a 17-year-old girl (whether that be Maddy or Cassie) to be with him? This seems to place us back inside a never-ending media cycle of punishing women for the actions of men.

  1. At the end of the day, I don’t condone what Cassie did.
  2. It was a testament to her lack of willpower and her value of her addiction over the important people to her in her life.
  3. However, when we consider her need for validation, and the fact that she is now locked in a manipulative relationship, we can discern why that desperate need to prove her worth exists pretty consistently.

Cassie will continue behaving in outlandish and crazy ways until she, too, has an intervention. Ultimately, we cannot cast blame on Cassie without understanding her – and once again, there is no excuse for what she’s done, but there is reasoning. Did Alexa Demie and Jacob ever date?

Is Alexa Demie related to Scott Wilson?

How is Alexa Demie related to Dennis Wilson? – According to, Alexa Demie’s father, Scott Wilson Vanerstrom, was the stepson of Dennis Wilson, who he adopted through his marriage with his former wife Carole Freedman. The two were married for about three years before finally calling it quits in 1968.

Even still, those few years were enough to warrant a relationship between Scott and Dennis to the point of Alexa Demie being considered Dennis’ granddaughter. Being the quiet celebrity that she is, Alexa has yet to speak publicly about her late grandfather, especially considering the fact that she wasn’t even born when he passed away in 1983.
