#2 Nest 3rd Gen and Nest E – Nest Labs were the pioneer in “smart thermostats” and you can read the full review about Nest thermostats in our article. As I wrote above, both Nest and Ecobee make excellent smart thermostats. In the context of this article (on Amazon Alexa compatible thermostats), we consider Nest #2 because Nest thermostat models (Nest 3rd Gen and Nest E ) are not perfectly optimized for Amazon Alexa.

1. They both (Nest models) are compatible with Amazon Alexa but not as optimized as Ecobee models.
2. Nest thermostats are better optimized for Google Home and Apple Homekit.
3. As we noted above, Nest has two thermostat models – Nest 3rd Gen and Nest E.
4. Out of these two, Nest 3rd Gen is the full featured model with all functionalities of a smart thermostat (including higher compatibility with different type of HVAC systems).

• If you have a Z-Wave Thermostat, you will enroll it with the Z-Wave network for your security system,

This will allow you to use it with an interactive service platform like Total Connect 2.0 or Alarm.com, Remember, most Honeywell Security Systems will use the Total Connect 2.0 platform. But also keep in mind that most Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostats can also be used with panels from other manufacturers that use Alarm.com instead.

Meanwhile, thermostats that are used with Honeywell Home and Total Connect Comfort will use a WIFI connection, and the setup process is completed using the respective application. You will need to download the application to your smartphone and complete the necessary process for getting the thermostat connect with a local WIFI network.

Complete the following steps to connect Alexa to your Honeywell Thermostat: 1. Configure your thermostat. Before you can start having your Honeywell Thermostat interact with Amazon Alexa, you must get your thermostat connected to the network. How you do this will depend on which Honeywell Thermostat you have.

1. Remember, this integration is only possible for smart thermostats.
2. Traditional programmable thermostats that do not use Z-Wave or a WIFI connection cannot be used with Amazon Alexa.

This will clear the thermostat from the Z-Wave network. Then put your system in its Z-Wave inclusion mode and activate the same inclusion function on the thermostat to pair it with the Z-Wave network. Remember, you may need to have the thermostat close to the panel when excluding and including.

1. Refer to the instruction manual for your Z-Wave thermostat for more information on its inclusion function.
2. If your Honeywell Thermostat uses WIFI, then it is most likely a Honeywell Home device or a Total Connect Comfort device.
3. You will need to download either the Honeywell Home App or the Total Connect Comfort App on your Android or iOS device.

Both apps are available from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Follow the instructions on the screen to get your WIFI thermostat connected to the network. This will involve creating a Honeywell Home or a Total Connect Comfort account. Remember this account information because you will need it later in Step 3.2.

• Get the Alexa Skill.
• Your Honeywell Thermostat will communicate with your Alexa Device through an Alexa Skill.
• You will need to enable the appropriate skill within the Alexa App.
• You most likely set up the Alexa App when you set up your Alexa Device.
• But if you don’t have the Alexa App, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

You will need to create an Amazon Account to use with the Alexa App. Open up the Alexa App. Press the menu icon (three bars) in the upper-left corner. Choose Skills & Games. Press the search icon (magnifying glass) in the upper-right corner. Then look for the appropriate Skill.

1. Remember, you will be using the Total Connect 2.0 Skill, Total Connect comfort Skill or the Honeywell Home Skill.
2. Find the correct Skill, and click on it.
3. Then press the blue “Enable to Use” button.
4. This will enable the skill.3.
5. Link your account.
6. Regardless of which Skill you are using, there will be some account you linked.

You created this account before or during Step 1. Enter the appropriate information to link your Total Connect 2.0 account, your Total Connect Comfort account or your Honeywell Home account with Amazon Alexa. Then follow any of the necessary steps on the screen to complete the integration.4.

• Test the thermostat.
• Go to your Alexa Device, and try using it to control the thermostat.
• Depending on the exact skill, a different command will be used.
• If you have Honeywell Home or Total Connect Comfort, you can just ask Alexa to adjust the temperature.
• Check and make sure that the thermostat responds accordingly.

But if you have the Total Connect 2.0 Skill, you must create a smart scene from Total Connect 2.0. Save the scene, and give it a name that you can remember. Then go to your Alexa Device, and say “Alexa, tell Total Connect to run (scene name).” The scene should activate, and the thermostat will adjust accordingly.

Does Honeywell smart thermostat work with Alexa?

(You’ll need to wait until about an hour after set-up to try this feature.) You can also just get a reading by saying, “Alexa, what’s the temperature in here?” When it comes to routines around the temperature sensor, they seem kind of disappointing. I was hoping I could set the Echo to text or email me if the temp in my house drops below a certain level so if my furnace ever shut off in the winter I could keep everything from freezing, but the closest I can get is to have Alexa send me a notification inside the Alexa app.

• Other options include if the temperature inside the house hits a certain temp, you can get a weather forecast, or play the news.
• The other option is for Alexa to say something which wouldn’t help if you’re not at home.
• After you set up your Echo, go to the Smart Home section of the Alexa app to find the temperature sensor.

Add the temperature sensor to a new or existing smart home group, and then you can ask Alexa for the temperature of the room your device is in. Note: It can take up to 45 minutes to calibrate the temperature sensor. For the most accurate temperature reading, place your device away from any heating or cooling sources (such as windows).

Go to the menu and select Routines. Select the + icon in the top right corner. Select When This Happens, and then choose how to trigger the Routine. For sensor routines, select your installed motion or contact sensor. Select Add action, and then choose which action it completes. To receive a push notification when a motion or contact sensor is triggered,select Send notification. Under From, select which device controls the routine. Tap Create.

Tip: To modify or delete a Routine, go to the Routines section in the Alexa app. Choose a Routine listed in the Enabled section to make your changes.

Can Alexa change temperature in house?

Which Honeywell thermostat works with Alexa?

Yes, the Honeywell T6 PRO Thermostat works with Alexa. This is true whether the T6 PRO Z-Wave Plus Thermostat or the T6 PRO WIFI Thermostat is being used. The Z-Wave Plus model pairs with Amazon Alexa through Total Connect 2.0, The WIFI model pairs with Amazon Alexa through Honeywell Home. There are many Amazon Alexa voice commands that can be used with a compatible thermostat. You can ask Alexa to set a specific temperature, activate a heating or cooling mode, check the current temperature, and more. To do this, you will make the vocal command to your Alexa Hub.

• Alexa will then forward the command to an interactive platform used with your thermostat.
• The interactive platform will then send the command to the thermostat so that the device can control the HVAC system for the building.
• It is important to understand that the Honeywell T6 PRO Thermostat does not pair with Amazon Alexa directly.

Instead, the integration occurs through an interactive automation platform. The platform that is used will depend on whether the Honeywell T6 PRO Thermostat is the Z-Wave Plus model or the WIFI model. Either model can be used very nicely with Amazon Alexa once everything is set up properly.

This will involve enabling the appropriate Alexa Skill from within the Alexa App. If you have the Z-Wave model, then your best option is to pair your T6 PRO thermostat with your security system, This will require that your system has a Z-Wave controller built-in or added. You can then enable the corresponding Alexa Skill for the interactive monitoring and automation platform used with your system.

If you have a Honeywell System, then you will most likely be using Total Connect 2.0 for this application. But if you have a system that supports Alarm.com, then you can use that platform instead. You will just need to enable the Total Connect 2.0 Alexa Skill or the Alarm.com Alexa Skill depending on the platform you are using.

1. You will need to provide your TC2 or ADC login information so that Alexa can access your account.
2. This setup will require that you have an alarm monitoring plan that includes home automation service.
3. If you have the WIFI model, then you can complete the Alexa integration through Honeywell Home.
4. You will need to successfully pair the T6 PRO Thermostat with Honeywell Home.

You will then enable the Honeywell Home Alexa Skill and provide your login information for Honeywell Home. This will allow Alexa to communicate with Honeywell Home for controlling the thermostat. Remember that the WIFI mode can also be used with Apple HomeKit.

Can I replace my Honeywell thermostat with a smart thermostat?

All of them should work even without a c-wire thanks to AC adapters. Your heating and cooling source shouldn’t matter either. Gas, oil, and electric heating are all supported. Supplementary systems like humidifiers and dehumidifiers can often be integrated with smart thermostats, too. There are some exceptions to be made that are generally held across brands.

Wires that use multiple large strands tend to be incompatible. High voltage wires labeled at 120V or 240V are also incompatible with many smart thermostats. That shouldn’t be too big of a concern, however, since most homes use low voltage for their thermostats.
