Enable the Blink SmartHome Alexa Skill –
- Open the Blink app and tap Settings
in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Tap Account and Privacy,
- Tap Link to Alexa,
- Tap Open Alexa App,
- On the BLINK SMARTHOME screen, tap ENABLE TO USE,
- Enter the email address and password associated with your Blink account. Then, tap Continue,
- Enter the verification code sent to the mobile phone number associated with your Blink account. Then, tap Verify Code, If you do not receive a verification code within 2 minutes, tap Resend Code,
- Tap CLOSE, Alexa then begins to discover your Blink devices. If Alexa fails to discover your Blink devices automatically, you can connect your devices manually,
- After Alexa discovers your Blink devices, you’ll be asked to create a 4-digit voice code. This code is used to disarm your Blink system. If you do not set up a voice code, you will not be able to use Alexa to disarm your Blink system. Learn more about setting up or changing your Alexa Voice Code,

Can you connect Blink without Wi-Fi?
feedbacks#update”> Blink cameras can’t operate offline and require a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Internet connection. One important reason is because cameras use Wi-Fi to send images and notifications. Blink systems minimally require a high speed connection of at least 2 Mbps upload speed. Wi-Fi is also important for Blink cameras that need to connect to a Sync Module on the same Wi-Fi network. The Sync Module is the brain of the system and conveys commands between the Blink application, Blink Servers and your camera. Without an internet connection this data exchange is not possible.
How do I connect Blink to Wi-Fi?
This procedure requires direct communication between the phone app and the Sync Module. Both must be active and on the same Wi-Fi network. To complete this procedure, you must be physically with your system and have your sync module plugged into a power supply.
Tap on Sync Module to see the status screen, and tap “Change Wi-Fi Network”.
At this point, you are presented with a Change Wi-Fi screen and a Sync Module graphic illustrating a blinking blue light above a steady green light.
Follow the screen instruction to press the Reset button. Use a thin object to gently press and release the button, located within a recess on the side of the Sync Module. It appears as a small hole in the case as shown in the image below.
When the lights match a blinking blue and solid green pattern, then press Discover Device and you are asked to join the Sync Module Wi-Fi network. Tap Join, and then select your Wi-Fi network from the available choices.
Carefully enter your Wi-Fi password and tap Join on your keyboard.

Shortly after that, you’ll receive a message saying “Sync Module added!”. Once you receive that message, tap Done.
You’ll now be able to use your system normally again.
How do I resync my Blink?
Blink — Sync Module Reset Button The Sync Module has a physical Reset button located at the back of the device (number 3 pictured below). This button should only be used to put your Sync Module into setup mode after you have tried a power cycle (unplug and plug-in the power cord). Helpful Tip : Use a fingernail or small object to press the reset button until you feel a slight click. Some Sync Modules have an opening for the reset button, see above image. First, power cycle the Sync Module If you are having any issues with your Sync Module, it is best to try to power cycle by unplugging the power cord from the back of the unit for 10 seconds and then plug it back in.
- The device will reboot and reconnect, then show a solid blue and solid green light for normal operation – or solid blue and blinking green when ready for setup.
- If needed, press the reset button for 5 seconds If the power cycle does not result in solid blue and blinking green lights, you may try a reset.
Use a small object or fingernail to press the reset button for 5 seconds. You will see a flash of red and then after 15 seconds a blinking blue light and solid green light appear at the front of the Sync Module. Do I need a Sync Module for Blink?
What does the Sync Module 2 do for the Blink Video Doorbell – Your standard $50 Blink Video Doorbell doesn’t come with the sync module. That’s an additional purchase, though you can buy bundles with one included. Its functionality is simple, yet for some, important. The Sync Module 2 connects up to 10 Blink video devices to a USB flash drive for local storage.
- You can’t use it to record live view, but all motion-triggered alerts will be saved locally and can be accessed at any time through the Blink app.
- If you don’t have the Sync Module 2, then you’ll either have to rely on only getting notifications and having live view, or subscribe to one of the Blink plans.
These start at $30 a year for one device but still don’t offer the longevity for recordings that you can get with local storage.

Although, you can watch “Live View” for a short period of time. While some say recording is not recommended, I DISAGREE.
One of my security systems has Continuous recording/live view and notifies me of motion, which allows me to go to the date/time on the recording and view the activity without searching hours of tape. I’ve only had Blink for a short while so the verdict is still out on its usefulness.

¿Y a ti? | Most of the questions added to this question have a no for an answer. It isn’t user friendly, the way the Wyze camera is, but the wyze camera doesn’t hold up well outside. There are no current ties to ITTT, nor can you start recording on demand (Huge downfall).
- You can’t set it up to monitor something without touching the screen every 10 seconds to continue the feed.
- There is no easy way to back up all of the feed recordings (you have to share each one to your backup location).
- Over all, I won’t buy another one.
- The new model seems to add the two way talking, but it doesn’t solve the other weaknesses.

The Blink cameras, when armed turn on and record clips based on motion detection only and send a notification to your compatible mobile device. It would be up to the user to contact the local authorities if needed after watching the motion clip.
